Apple Vision Pro is set to make its debut outside the U.S. by the end of this month, with sales planned in China, Japan, and Singapore

Apple announced on Tuesday that its flagship virtual reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro, will hit shelves in China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore on June 28, marking its debut outside the United States. Pre-orders will kick off on Friday.

Introduced in the U.S. four months ago at a starting price of $3,499, the Vision Pro will be priced at 29,999 yuan ($4,190) in China, Apple’s crucial market. Negotiating China’s strict content regulations, Apple will showcase new apps and games from local developers and internet firms. Tencent will offer its video streaming app Tencent Video, while ByteDance plans to launch a VR version of Douyin, China’s TikTok.

Competing with local VR players like Oppo, Apple sees early signs of demand in China, evident from a burgeoning gray market where Vision Pros are selling for double their official price on platforms like Xianyu.

Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed enthusiasm for introducing spatial computing to more users globally, despite reports of tepid demand in the U.S. Analysts suggest Apple’s move to international markets aims to boost sales amid lower-than-expected domestic demand, as indicated by decreased Vision Pro production reported by Ming-Chi Kuo in April.

The Vision Pro will also open for pre-orders in Germany, France, Australia, the U.K., and Canada on June 28, with availability slated for July 12.

Accompanying the international expansion is the release of VisionOS 2, enhancing the headset with new features and AI integrations, making it compatible with over 2,000 apps.
