Justin Bieber reveals facial paralysis after shows cancelled

After cancelling gigs this week, Justin Bieber announced that he is suffering from facial paralysis.

In an Instagram video, the 28-year-old explains that her condition is caused by a diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

“This eye does not blink, as you can see. On this side of my face, I’m unable to smile. So this side of my face is completely paralysed, “he stated.

According to medical professionals, Ramsay Hunt syndrome occurs when a shingles epidemic damages the facial nerve between the ears.

Bieber’s Justice World Tour, which began in February, revealed earlier this week that three gigs would be rescheduled.

“It’s from this virus that targets the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and causes my face to be paralysed,” the musician, who was born in Canada, said in the three-minute video, pointing to the right side of his face.

He pleaded for patience from his followers and stated that he is “physically, obviously, not capable of doing” his next gigs.

He also smiled and blinked, demonstrating to his 240 million Twitter followers that the right side of his face remained motionless.

Bieber went on to say that he’s been performing facial workouts to “get back to normal,” but he doesn’t know how long it will take.

He was scheduled to perform in Washington, D.C., and Toronto earlier this week, with shows in New York and Los Angeles planned in the coming weeks.

The symptoms of Ramsay Hunt syndrome are usually transient, but they might become permanent, according to the Mayo Clinic.

According to the organisation, patients’ inability to close one eyelid can cause eye pain and poor vision, and it is most common in adults over 60 years old.

Hailey Bieber, the singer’s wife, was rushed to the hospital in March with a blood clot in her brain.

She then revealed that she had had a stroke and had surgery to fix a hole in her heart.
