Jeremy Renner lands his debut film role post-accident.

Marvel luminary Jeremy Renner returns to the silver screen for the first time since his harrowing snowplow mishap in 2023, as he joins the ensemble cast of the third installment of the Knives Out series. Titled “Wake Up Dead Man,” the murder mystery sequel boasts a star-studded lineup featuring Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, and Josh O’Connor, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter. Daniel Craig reprises his role as the distinctive Southern detective Benoit Blanc, renowned for his knack in solving crimes.

Director and writer Rian Johnson recently teased the upcoming film on Instagram, expressing his palpable excitement as production gears up: “We’re about to go into production on it and I AM SLIGHTLY EXCITED.”

Renner’s journey to this project has been marked by resilience, following a devastating accident where he was critically injured while attempting to rescue his stranded nephew from a snowbound car on New Year’s Day 2023. Suffering 38 broken bones, reconstructive surgery on his ribcage, and extensive facial and leg injuries, Renner’s recovery has been nothing short of arduous, yet his determination never wavered. He credited his fierce determination to his deep-rooted sense of purpose, stating that knowing he had “a lot to fight for” propelled him through the ordeal.

The Oscar-nominated actor, renowned for his portrayal of Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside notable roles in films such as “The Hurt Locker” and “Arrival,” remains open to revisiting past ventures, including the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, from which he temporarily withdrew to prioritize family time, particularly with his daughter.

Renner’s upcoming projects also include the Paramount+ TV series “Mayor of Kingstown,” slated for release in June, where he plays a prominent role. Reflecting on the challenges of the series, Renner expressed gratitude towards the cast and crew for their unwavering support, which enabled him to navigate both the physical and emotional demands of the production. Despite initial struggles, Renner emerged from the experience feeling stronger and revitalized, a stark contrast to the exhaustion typically associated with intensive shoots.

In a candid moment on Kelly Clarkson’s talk show, Renner revealed one of the most poignant aspects of his accident, admitting that amidst the turmoil, he momentarily forgot about his daughter. However, upon regaining consciousness and returning home from the hospital, the realization of her presence served as a powerful catalyst for his recovery, reaffirming the profound bond he shares with his daughter, Ava, who he describes as his “life force.”
