Wimbledon: Emma Raducanu & Andy Murray set for Centre Court on day one

When Wimbledon begins on Monday, the top-ranked British woman, Emma Raducanu, and the two-time champion, Andy Murray, will be on Center Court.

At around 16:00 BST, Raducanu makes her main show court debut against Alison van Uytvanck of Belgium.

After a week of doubt brought on by a side injury, the 19-year-old claims she is “ready to go” at SW19.

As is customary, the event begins at 13:30 on Centre Court with Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, the reigning men’s champion.

Seven more British players are competing on Monday, in addition to Raducanu and Murray.

Play begins at 11:00 on court two when the ninth-seeded British player, Cameron Norrie, takes on Pablo Andujar of Spain.

On court three, Heather Watson and Ryan Peniston are battling it out back-to-back while Lily Miyazaki, Jodie Burrage, Jay Clarke, and Katie Swan also try to advance to the next round.

At 13:00, Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur takes the court for her opening match against Swedish qualifier Mirjam Bjorklund. Next, Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz and 2018 champion Angelique Kerber play their opening matches.

Due to the pressure, Raducanu withdrew from Eastbourne International last week, leaving her without enough time to prepare for Wimbledon on grass courts.

It was her sole appearance on grass this summer, and she only won seven games against Viktorija Golubic at the Nottingham Open before quitting the match.

On Saturday, Raducanu worked out at Wimbledon as planned, appearing to serve regularly and using all of his available shots.

The 10th seed did not mention whether she was still in agony as a result of the issue at her pre-tournament press conference.

Murray’s abdominal ailment, which he sustained in the Stuttgart final on June 12, has caused him frustration.

It is the former world’s number one’s most recent minor setback and occurred as he was starting to show signs of improvement on grass courts.

After claiming on Monday that he was still unable to execute certain shots due to the injury, Murray increased his workload. On Friday, he appeared to be serving normally during practice with fellow Brit Dan Evans.
