Michael Kors’ luxurious layers close out New York Fashion Week

Michael Kors layered up his Fall/Winter 2025 collection at New York Fashion Week on Tuesday, capping off six days of shows and nearly 60 designers showcasing their latest designs. Renowned for blending practicality with luxury, Kors infused his new collection with a theme of “throwaway chic.”
“I love the idea of ease, comfort, mobility, and movement. Looking chic without being stiff or studied. The French call it dégagé, or throwaway chic. You’ll see what I like to call warm modernism,” Kors explained. The models wore an array of outfits, from draped wool coats to soft leather dresses and flowing silk blouses. The looks were relaxed yet sensual, offering a fresh take on power dressing and moving away from the recent trend of revealing fashion.
“It’s actually a pretty covered-up show. I think we’ve gone as naked as we can go. Maybe it’s time to cover up, but still feel powerful and sexy—more in a sensual way. Movement is sexy. I love how fabrics catch the breeze when you walk. To me, that’s everything,” Kors said.
Other standout moments from the week included Wes Gordon at Carolina Herrera, whose brightly colored dresses adorned with oversized flowers were inspired by the film *Being There*. Christian Siriano turned to the automotive world for inspiration, showcasing shiny metallic textiles. Sergio Hudson, who dedicated his show to the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires, added a haute couture twist to everyday wear, featuring denim pleated skirts and chunky cashmere knits.
