Elon Musk reveals the “X” logo as Twitter’s new symbol
Twitter’s CEO revealed the platform’s new logo, a white X on a black background, replacing the blue bird. Linda Yaccarino tweeted, “X is here! Let’s do this,” and announced that “tweets” would be replaced by “x’s.” Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk, changed his profile picture to the new logo and added “X.com” to his Twitter bio.
Elon Musk aims to create a “super app” named “X,” envisioning a novel social media platform he has been discussing for months. He expressed his intention to bid farewell to the Twitter brand and gradually replace it with the X branding. The new logo was projected onto Twitter headquarters in San Francisco.
Mr. Musk, who renamed the business “X Corp,” believes the logo change should have happened long ago. In a Twitter Spaces audio chat, he confirmed the logo change.
The rebrand is seen as an exciting opportunity, as Twitter had a significant impact on communication, and “X” is expected to further transform the global town square, according to Yaccarino.
The current bird logo is called Larry, a tribute to basketball star Larry Bird, as co-founder Biz Stone mentioned in 2011.
Super-apps like India’s PayTM and Indonesia’s GoJek have been integral to everyday life in Asia, allowing users to pay for services through a finance system. WeChat, a messaging and social media platform, has become one of the region’s largest apps, with over a billion users in China alone.
Earlier, Twitter temporarily replaced the logo with Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog, leading to a surge in the meme coin’s market value and allegations of insider trading against Mr. Musk.
Twitter faced criticism for implementing daily tweet limits, which contributed to the growth of Meta-owned rival service Threads.
Furthermore, the company is facing a lawsuit alleging that it owes at least $500 million in severance pay to former employees, and since Musk’s acquisition, over half of the workforce has been laid off.
